London, 10th June 2016 – Groovy Gecko, leading webcast provider, provided the live stream into Facebook of the EU referendum event. The event, which took place on 10th June was provided by BuzzFeed UK and Facebook.
The event includes prominent representatives from both the Remain and Leave campaigns including David Cameron, Nicola Sturgeon, Penny Mordaunt, and Nigel Farage. The event was streamed using Groovy Gecko’s integration with Facebook Live, which was used to setup the video to be streamed into the platform.
“The referendum on 23 June is the most important vote in our country for a generation and the BuzzFeed News and Facebook event is a great chance to debate what sort of future we want for our country,” said David Cameron.
“The EU referendum is the biggest political story of the year and we are very much looking forward to bringing this debate to life with our audience in new and compelling ways, using new technologies,” said Janine Gibson, editor-in-chief of BuzzFeed UK.
Jake Ward, Business Development Director, Groovy Gecko, added: “We are pleased to be a part of bringing this important debate to what promises to be a huge audience across the UK. The EU referendum is extremely important for the whole of the UK, however many voters remain undecided. Therefore this live stream could be crucial to enable the public to choose which way to vote.”
