In the last ten years, there has been a major shift in video production and the way in which video is consumed. For production companies this means a whole array of additional tools and with it different platforms, formats and delivery channels to keep up with. The production industry is constantly trying to stay abreast of new technologies on the one hand, and coming to terms with understanding on-line video and the impact of social media on the other. More and more their services are being perceived as a commodity and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to for them to differentiate themselves amongst their peers. At the same time they need to avoid becoming simply a commodity. In an ongoing endeavour to better understand it’s clients and their changing needs, Groovy Gecko will be conducting a survey of the industry to better understand what production companies and their clients need from a Webcast Studio, and Live and On-demand hosting services. The results of the survey will enable Groovy Gecko to provide fine tuned products and services to production company partners who wish to buck the trend of the “commodity perception” and add-value to their customers.
