Individuals wishing to view streaming video content on rooted Android mobile phones may face difficulty doing so at present.
The 'Error 49' message is being sent to users hoping to download content in this manner due to a dispute between Android Market and YouTube - the site which streams the live movies and other content to Android phones. Anyone seeing this message is also offered the explanation: "You'll receive this 'Error 49' message if you attempt to play a movie on a rooted device. Rooted devices are currently unsupported due to requirements related to copyright protection." However, the only phone presently afflicted with this issue is the Xoom Tablet - as it is one of the only devices which uses the Android OS Honeycomb 3.1. 3D TV owners may be pleased to learn that Samsung has launched a new streaming video offering for its customers. Andy Griffiths, vice-president of UK consumer electronics at Samsung, said the firm's new Explore 3D app offers on-demand movies, documentaries and other programmes in 3D for free.
