Owners of Android 2.2-powered phones in the UK are set to benefit from a new streaming video launch from ITV.
The broadcaster is set to offer a new free app to the Android community that will enable them to watch on-demand streaming video of their favourite ITV shows. It will enable users to watch programmes from the last seven days on their mobiles. "Android is just the first step in a mobile strategy that will see us rolling out ITV Player across mobiles and tablets, including iPhones and iPads, across the rest of this year," commented Robin Pembrooke, managing director of ITV Online and On Demand. Meanwhile, Guardian Media Entertainment recently announced a new partnership with NBCUniversal Television Group for the creation of a new streaming video franchise in the US. The Guardian Project will see cross-platform media support for the National Hockey League and is set to be a multimillion dollar commitment by the two firms. Posted by Emma Johnson ![]() |
