The long-awaited partnership between Virgin Media and streaming audio provider Spotify has finally been announced.
A launch date for the streaming media collaboration is yet to be announced, but the pair have signed an agreement giving Virgin Media subscribers access to the 13 million tracks presently offered by Spotify via their computer, mobile or TV. Andreas Liffgarden, director of business development at Spotify, said: "By teaming up with Virgin Media we’re giving millions more people across the UK the chance to enjoy all the world’s music at their fingertips, however they choose to listen to it." Elsewhere, a streaming video deal has been struck between Netflix and Open Road Films for the online content provider to offer the producer's titles to its client base. Netflix will begin by offering Open Road's debut releases Killer Elite and The Host, with future titles also set to be offered directly to Netflix customers ahead of its rivals.
