UK property owners interested in improving their access to streaming media content and who are unhappy with their present broadband connections have been advised there are a number of things they can boost their speed.
Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, said one such method could be an accelerator - a device that plugs into the phone socket to reduce interference on the line - or people could move their router away from items that emit a wireless signal, as this could cause interference also. He commented: "It is always worth talking to your provider as the starting point if you are not satisfied. You may be able to re-grade the line and that can lead to an improvement in speed." Mr Phillips also recently noted that those suffering from slow connections of less than 1 Mbps could benefit greatly from the introduction of satellite broadband technology. Indeed, he argued that satellite broadband is not reliant on cables and exchanges to provide a signal; therefore, it is extremely suitable for those living in poorly provisioned rural areas at present.
