Apple may be on the verge of purchasing streaming video provider Hulu in a deal that could change the face of the streaming media sector, it has been revealed.
An anonymous source has claimed that the multi-billion dollar company could be set to invest in one of the largest streaming video providers in the US in a bid to keep the brand out of the hands of its competition. BGC Partners analyst Colin Gillis commented of Apple: "They're not the most logical buyers. [However,] maybe peeling off a couple bills to keep it out of the hands of Google makes some sense." Dan Rayburn of Frost & Sullivan recently told Home Media Magazine that Hulu rival Netflix is unlikely to enter the European streaming video market any time in the near future. However, Netflix did recently announce plans to roll out in 43 Latin American countries - including Mexico and the Caribbean - by the end of this year. Posted by Geoff Phillips ![]() |
