Data from In-Stat has revealed that 50 per cent of tablet owners are watching both feature-length movies and TV programming on the handheld devices, with streaming video gaining popularity all the time.
It found that more and more, streaming video consumption is becoming the norm, with smartphone users also consuming large amounts of video content on their phones. "As these devices become a centre-point for video engagement and consumption, content providers, device manufacturers and operators need to support a multiscreen usage model that reflects social interaction," research director Keith Nissen commented. He added that tablets in particular have become a primary video device both in business and in the home. Figures from Allot recently showed streaming video provider YouTube remains the top destination for mobile users looking to watch online content. The firm's 2011 H1 Mobile Trends Report revealed that the site received 52 per cent of all mobile streaming video usage in the first half of the year. Posted by Emma Johnson ![]() |
