The launch of Everything Everywhere's new streaming video service for tablet users could spark a revolution in the way mobile TV is consumed, it has been argued.
Utilising Red Bee Media's new video-on-demand platform Red Player, the mobile operator and parent company to T-Mobile and Orange will offer streaming video content to tablet users, including more than 40 channels of live coverage, ranging from ITV1 and Eurosport to Sky News. Content will be optimised for a range of mobile handsets, with plans already underway to release a tablet version for users in the coming months. Everything Everywhere director of products Paul Jevons said: "We have several significant developments planned for our service over the next 12 months, which will really transform the way consumers view mobile TV." Meanwhile, TechRadar recently reported Richard Bullwinkle, chief evangelist at Rovi, is hoping for an HD revolution in streaming video through the launch of the firm's new DivX Plus services. He argued that the improved Blu-ray quality and versatile nature of future streaming video means the popularity of the service is set to grow in the coming years. Posted by Kevin Smith ![]() |
