Facebook founder and chief executive Mark Zuckerberg has announced a raft of new streaming media services that are set to be on offer to the site's subscribers in an address at the f8 conference in San Francisco.
He noted that Facebook subscribers will soon have access to more streaming video and music than ever before, following deals with online providers including Hulu and Spotify. In addition, users will also be able to see what their friends are watching, reading and listening to at any time through the site's new ticker service, allowing them to join in by clicking on a link. Independent digital music analyst Mark Mulligan recently told the Daily Telegraph: "Facebook hasn't needed to have music properly embedded in its site until now. However, it is trying to be as defensible as possible against any potential Facebook killers which it knows could come along." Posted by Thomas Price ![]() |
