BT has seen a marked increase in the popularity of its digital TV and streaming media service BT Vision during the most recent fiscal quarter.
Data from the company's third quarter financial report showed that the service attracted 41,000 new subscribers, making it the UK's fastest growing pay TV service and representing its best performance in two years. BT Vision offers content from Freeview and Sky Sports plus a selection of new film releases, as well as on-demand programmes and BBC iPlayer functionality via broadband. With 638,000 customers, it remains a small player in the pay TV market compared to BSkyB and Virgin Media's rival offerings, which have subscriber bases of ten million and 3.76 million respectively. However, the latest figures have demonstrated its growth potential, leading to a positive reaction from investors, reports the Guardian. Ian Livingston, the company's chief executive, said BT will be aiming to continue improving its services in the coming months. "We expect to continue to offset the economic headwinds through improved customer service and processes, better efficiency, and investment in the future of the business," he explained.
