Cloud gaming service OnLive has expanded its operations with the launch of a new application for mobile devices.
The app will allow OnLive service users to stream leading home console and PC titles to their tablet computers or smartphones, controlling the action using a unique touch-based interface or via a wireless OnLive gamepad. Touch controls have been specially developed for more than 25 titles, including Rockstar Games' LA Noire and Warner Bros Interactive's Lego Harry Potter and Lego Batman titles, while almost 200 others can be played using the controller. It means that OnLive now offers cross-platform streamed gaming experiences on PCs, TVs and mobile devices, augmented with features such as cloud-stored save files, mass spectator modes and social network integration. Steve Perlman, OnLive's founder and chief executive officer, said: "Tablets and smartphones, the fastest-growing consumer product categories in history, are now capable of running the hottest, highest-end games." OnLive was introduced in the UK in September 2011, with content partners including Capcom, THQ, Konami, Epic Games, Ubisoft and other leading gaming companies. Posted by Geoff Phillips ![]() |
