Netflix is targeting young social media users by allowing Facebook members to rate its films. The video streaming service, which begun as a DVD rental delivery service, now allows customers to stream audio and video of films instantly. In an apparent bid to corner the growing social media market, Netflix now allows members of the social networking site to review its movies and refer friends to flicks. According to Netflix product development representative Mike Hart, the move follows on from the service's forays into mobile applications. He said: "As you know, we've been introducing ways for people to experience Netflix beyond our website with such things as mobile apps, adding movies to your queue from NYT or Rotten Tomatoes and of course all of the Netflix ready devices. "You now have the option to post movies you've rated in your Facebook profile. To link your Netflix and Facebook accounts, you will use the 'Connect' button on the Netflix member site." Netflix has over 12,000 titles available on an on-demand basis, in addition to its thousands of movies available through delivery. ![]() |
