Mobile video downloads are growing in popularity due to the increased sophistication of mobile phone audio and visual capabilities, an expert has said. According to Thomas Newton, of independent mobile phone comparison website Mobile-Phones.co.uk, video downloads have also become more popular due improved mobile phone displays and exterior speakers. "With the release of the Samsung Tocco Edition Ultra with its rich Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode display and access to the Samsung Movies store, this trend looks set to continue in 2009," Mr Newton commented. He added that the popularity of videos is set to continue throughout the year, as advanced sound and display technologies become more widespread across the market. A survey from ABI Research found that downloads of videos, audio material, games and news increased between 2007 and 2008, while the popularity of mobile data services also increased. In addition, the poll found that 70 per cent of respondents who used their mobile phones to access the internet in 2008 obtained information via mobile search engines. ![]() |
