Web users watched around 14.5 billion videos online in March 2009, according to new figures from comScore. The firm's Video Metrix service revealed that the number of videos watched online by US-based web users in March rose by 11 per cent from the previous month. Some 150 million US internet users watched an average of 97 videos per viewer in March, with each user watching 327 minutes of video or almost 5.5 hours. The figures showed that 99.7 million viewers watched around 5.9 billion videos on YouTube, while 47.4 million viewers watched 349 million videos on MySpace. Overall, Google was ranked as the number one US video property, claiming a 40.9 per cent share of the online video market, with 5.9 billion videos watched. Fox Interactive Media came in second place with 437 million videos watched, followed by Hulu with 380 million and Yahoo sites with 335 million videos viewed. ![]() |
