A number of commercial organisations will beneft from these updates including content providers who have signed up to IIS and Silverlight such as Kaazing, which has opted to use Microsoft's streaming services in its Kaazing Enterprise Gateway. "We are delighted to be the first to offer our customers a solution that enables full-duplex web communication and data streaming with the Microsoft's Silverlight technology," said Jonas Jacobi, chief executive of Kaazing. "Kaazing and Microsoft are tackling the performance and quality issues normally associated with streaming data over the web, such as seamlessly navigating through firewalls and proxies." Microsoft's update will also benefit the 2010 Winter Olympics, for which the firm has a contract to stream both live and on-demand content via the NBC network. ![]() |
