Web-to-TV video streaming content is becoming increasingly popular with adults under the age of 35, a new survey reveals. A US-based survey conducted by market research company In-Stat shows that 40 per cent of young consumers watch web-based video content on TV at least once a month. The report predicted that in just five years' time, the number of households watching web-to-TV content will rise to 24 million. In-Stat's figures found that almost a third (29 per cent) of adults aged between 25 and 34 with game consoles use the device to watch streaming video from the internet and this figure is expected to rise. Keith Nissen, an analyst for In-Stat, commented: "Once web-to-TV video becomes simple and convenient, mass consumer adoption will follow quite rapidly. "Our primary research shows that users want a variety of their consumer devices to enable a web-to-TV video experience." The potential of web-to-TV gained widespread attention in July 2005, when News Corp bought MySpace for $580 million. ![]() |
