Increasing numbers of European web users are using the internet, new figures reveal. According to comScore's World Metrix service, Germany leads the way in terms of the share of the European online audience, with 40 million unique web visitors conducting online activities, including watching streaming videos in April this year. Coming in second place was the UK with 36.8 million visitors, followed by France, with 36.3 million web surfers. The survey found that Turkish web users are the most engaged in Europe, with the average internet surfer spending 32 hours online and viewing 3,044 pages of content every month. "The online population of Turkey far surpasses the rest of Europe in terms of time spent and content consumed per person," commented Mike Read, managing director of comScore Europe. "Much of this heavy engagement is driven by usage of social networking and entertainment media sites, which maintain users' attention for extended periods of time." ![]() |
