Microsoft has announced new updates to its Internet Explorer 8 web browser, as part of a new partnership with real-time social search engine OneRiot. The new browser will feature optimised search features including "webslices" from OneRiot and separate real-time add-on packages that feature a range of OneRiot products. Web users will find that the OneRiot search bar will be featured in the top right hand side corner of the new browser, allowing users to select OneRiot as the default search engine. Surfers will also be able to choose from three real-time add-on packages which feature OneRiot real-time search results, including top streaming videos and shared items of the day. "This new bundled browser that Microsoft is pushing is [a] new step for us," OneRiot's Tobias Peggs told ReadWriteWeb. "It's a vote of confidence in the way we index the web, the results we return and our ability to scale all good indicators."
