The number of people who watch streaming videos online is on the rise, new figures reveal. A survey by the Leichtman Research Group (LRG) and the Center for Research Excellence shows that 34 per cent of adults watch videos online at least once a week compared to 31 per cent last year. In addition, more than one in ten (11 per cent) of the survey's respondents said they watch streaming videos every day. Eight per cent of adults said they watch TV programmes online, while 24 per cent watch news clips. One in five (20 per cent) of respondents said they view user-generated content on YouTube, while 15 per cent watch online sports highlights. "Multi-channel video subscriptions are at an all time high despite the challenging economic environment," said Bruce Leichtman, president and principal analyst for LRG. "There is next to no evidence of any significant number of consumers currently cutting the cord to their multi-channel video subscription to only watch TV shows online." Recent figures from comScore reveal that Canada leads the world when it comes to online video viewing.
