Streaming video site Justin.tv has unveiled a new application for social networking site Facebook, which allows users to incorporate video content on their profiles. The application, known as Live, enables Facebook Page administrators to create a streaming video tab, which allows users to chat, update their statuses for others to see and view friends that are also watching content. Live can be set up by installing the application and then setting it to broadcast mode, after which a "watch" tab will appear on the Facebook Page, allowing visitors to view live streaming video content hosted by the user. All Facebook users need is a web cam and internet connection to start broadcasting a video or audio feed. The application is principally designed for companies and public figures who want to use streaming video content to engage with their consumers or fans. "Using Live, you can broadcast to Facebook; most importantly it's free and there is no signup approval process," commented Justin.tv's Tia Marie on the company's official blog. Meanwhile, Justin.tv recently broadcast a TechCrunch real time event, during which its new application was demonstrated. ![]() |
