Multimedia company Dilithium has announced the availability of live and on-demand video streaming support for the iPhone OS 3.0. The support makes use of the Dilithium Content Adapter (DCA), a solution that allows operators and service providers to offer users access to live or on-demand streaming content through the iPhone Safari browser. Supporting live and pre-recorded clips in a range of video formats, the DCA offering also performs on-demand media format and codec adaptation. DCA includes an advanced built-in caching feature that allows for a considerable reduction in unnecessary adaptation, while providing support for ad-insertion. Earlier this year, Dilithium announced a new partnership with Zain, under which the firm will provide mobile video solutions to Zain's consumer base. The deal allows Zain to provide a wide range of new services to its customers using the latest interactive technologies such as 3G video and web communications, while integrating flash-based internet and PC applications. ![]() |
