UK consumers are increasingly engaging with streaming content on their mobile phones, new trends reveal. According to a report conducted by CCS Insight, mobile internet use is growing at a "phenomenal" rate, driven by young adults who are keen to consume steaming media - especially music and videos - on their mobile devises. The study, which surveyed more than 1,000 adults between the ages of 16 and 35, found that most people expect the streaming content their engage with on their mobile phones to be free of charge. BBC iPlayer, which streams popular BBC programmes from the website or through a downloadable programme, is the service respondents said they would most like to see on their phones. "Younger generations naturally lead the way in the majority of take up in new technologies and practices," said Tim Gibbon, spokesperson for The Social Media Portal. A report from the Yankee Group shows that 41 per cent of consumers will choose an advanced operating system phone for their next mobile purchase. ![]() |
