Well-executed streaming video content can help e-commerce firms fulfill the three "crucial" elements of a successful business, an expert has said. According to Rachel Hawkes, account director at Elemental, video content can help businesses improve their products, traffic and conversion rates. She explained that firms have to make good use of all the relevant marketing options available to them in order to weather the current economic downturn, and video is one of the best mediums to exploit. "Unlike other forms of media, video is a multi-sensory and participatory medium and by default, users are automatically more engaged than they are with other forms of media," Ms Hawkes said. She added that employing an intelligent video strategy can help e-commerce firms assist their customers with their purchasing decisions. The recent Hitting the Checkout benchmark study from dotCommerce found that many UK online retailers are not including value-added content on their websites and as a result, may be preventing repeat visits. ![]() |
