An Underworld concert will be the first live broadcast streamed to iPhone users, it has been announced. Apple will use Akamai streaming protocol to give owners of the device the opportunity to enjoy the dance music act's San Francisco concert in real time. The streaming software allows the iPhone to adjust the speed at which content is streamed wirelessly, ensuring that the sound and images play in unison. According to online technology site ITProPortal.com, the concept of streaming concerts live to mobile handsets could catch on given the high price of music gig tickets. It could be a "significant money-spinner" for the manufacturer, says the website. Meanwhile, Apple has revealed that it is gearing up to launch iTunes 9, which it has hinted may include an organizing application for the smartphone. Apple recently updated one version of its iPhone with features that made it more user-friendly for those with disabilities. ![]() |
