The Miss Universe 2009 contest will be streamed online for the first time this year, allowing internet users to watch the competition on the web. Event organisers will allow fans of the contest from all over the world to see the winner crowned as it happens from the comfort of their living rooms, as well as on television. They say: "For the online streaming or webcast feature of this event, this marks the first time for the Miss Universe. "Actually, the preliminary competition was streamed online to a worldwide audience by Ustream, the leading internet broadcasting platform, that allows anyone to stream live to an online audience." Meanwhile, last week local councils in the UK caught on to the potential of webcasting announcing they would be streaming their meetings for local to enjoy. Inverness council is pioneering the project, reports the Press and Journal, but it could be rolled out across other local authorities if proved successful. ![]() |
