Web-surfers enjoyed the benefits of online streaming this month when the third episode of the new series of Mad Men was accidentally put on the internet. The show, which stars John Hamm and Christina Hendricks, is screening at the moment in the US but the leaked episode was not due to be broadcast until August 30th. But web users with an iTunes Season Pass found on Tuesday evening they were able to watch the programme for a brief window of time, when it was mistakenly uploaded onto the system. US cable network AMC is reportedly unsure how many viewers streamed the episode and have not seen it copied onto free websites, although storyline spoilers have found their way around the internet. Earlier this month, businesspeople were reminded of the commercial opportunities that video streaming has by Siim Vips, chief executive officer of Modera. He said: "Video is a very useful tool in driving awareness and sales as it can be used to communicate products and services in an easy, digestible and useful format and shared easily." ![]() |
