Online video sharing site YouTube plans to stream full-length movies, according to reports. The site is said to be in talks with a number of film studios including Sony Pictures, Lions Gate Entertainment and Time Warner's Warner Brothers to strike a deal with could see YouTube streaming online video rentals. If the project goes ahead, YouTube would charge users around $3.99 (£2) per movie rental, which is the price Apple currently charges users for new movie rentals. Chris Dale, a spokesperson for YouTube, said: "We hope to expand on both our great relationship with the movie studios and the selection and types of videos we offer our community." Talks between YouTube and the film studios reportedly began around two months ago, but an agreement on financial details have yet to be reached. YouTube recently reached an agreement with songwriters' group the Performing Rights Society for Music, making music videos available once more on the site. ![]() |
