Opera software has released a new web technology-based toolkit to help consumer enjoy internet content on their televisions. Opera Devices SDK 10 facilitates the transportation of web content and widgets to TVs and other connected devices and speeds up the rendering of web pages and applications using an accelerated DirectFB driver. The toolkit also allows for easier on-screen navigation, fine tuning the "remote-control-to-screen relationship" much more effectively. Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive of Opera Software, said: "With Opera Devices SDK 10, we have developed a seamless marriage of the web and TV. "Opera provides the framework for your TV experience, and with web technology, the kind of compelling content that the consumer wants is easy to create." Mr von Tetzchner added that Opera Software will continue to work with Open IPTV forum in order to continue to lower integration costs and offers consumers more choice. A recent report from Yahoo, Interpret LLC, Havas Digital, Warner Bros Media Research and PHD found that people are watching streaming content more frequently than ever before. ![]() |
