Online companies have been urged to increase their use of streaming videos on their websites. Rachel Hawkes, account director at media consultancy Elemental, said firms that feature videos on their websites will improve their search engine optimisation, thereby increasing traffic to their portals. She stressed that video content "seeds well into search engines" and ultimately results in increased sales. Ms Hawkes also advised companies to incorporate high-quality video content in all parts of their websites. "Video should not just appear on one page of an e-commerce website, but on all relevant pages," she said. "These videos should, however, stem from a central place so that a customer who wants to sit and view video after video - and many do - can do so easily." The Internet Advertising Bureau recently said that the increase in online TV and video viewing generated by broadband access has played a crucial role in the growth of internet advertising. ![]() |
