Incorporating online streaming videos into direct marketing campaigns can open up "fantastic opportunities", an expert has said. Shaun Bailey, chair of the Direct Marketing Association's Agencies Council, said the use of streaming video content can deliver businesses accountable results. He pointed out that the development of online technologies will have significant implications for the direction in which online advertising will take. Mr Bailey explained: "As digital TV and online converge, we are able to use the assets of each channel to produce adverts that use full audio visual stimulus to engage audiences, with the added ability to target, personalise and importantly, track audience behaviour with online metrics." His comments come in the wake of a new report by the Direct Marketing Association, which found that while online video has been experiencing a downward trend, new developments suggest that videos will still be a useful tool for many businesses. Recent figures from comScore show that ten billion online videos were watched on Google sites in August this year. ![]() |
