Nearly one in four small businesses plan to capitalise on the benefits of streaming video technology, a new survey has found. According to the Local Commerce Monitor Study by BIA/Kelsey, 23 per cent of small firms surveyed intend to incorporate streaming video content into their websites over the next 12 months. Just under a third (31 per cent) of respondents said they plan to include links or ads placed on social sites or blogs on their websites, while 39 per cent expect to introduce customer ratings or reviews. A similar proportion said they will incorporate social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook and LinkedIn into their marketing mix within the next year. Steve Marshall, director of research and consulting at BIA/Kelsey, said: "As local consumers increasingly gravitate to social networks, local businesses understand they need to be part of the conversation." The Army Benevolent Fund is the latest charitable organisation to take advantage of streaming video technology and has released a video showing how British soldiers benefit from the organisation's services. ![]() |
