Online streaming video sharing website Vimeo has been ranked by the Telegraph as the top web portal for video content. The website was chosen for its "playful [and] arty" HD streaming content, which is supported by a "friendly" community of users. Vimeo has also attracted the attention of high-profile names in the entertainment industry such as Kanye West, Moby and Lykke Li. Coming in joint second place is BBC iPlayer and 4 on Demand, which offer web users the chance to watch online streaming video versions of popular television programmes such as The Apprentice, Shameless and The Inbetweeners. Viral Video Chart and The Prelinger Archives came in third and fourth places respectively, followed by Arkive, a site which saves video and photographic images of flora and fauna and music video site Promo News, which allows music fans to search for the latest content. The list is rounded off by Indy Mogul, which is aimed at budding film directors, multimedia documentary site MediaStorm and Current TV, the go-to site for citizen journalists. A recent Forrester report ranked video platform applications provider Ooyala as an industry leader in its field. ![]() |
