Online shoe retailer Zappos is incorporating interactive video content on its website to sell products. The firm has launched interactive product videos for its Nike line of footwear, allowing viewers to click on items in the clips before landing on product detail pages. When a viewer hovers the cursor over a shoe in a video, it becomes highlighted, letting the user know that the item is clickable. Users are then taken to a product detail page in a separate window, where the item can be added to a shopping cart and purchased. Up to ten videos powered by Overlay TV's video commerce platform have been put up on Zappos' Nike products section following a beta period this summer. Brian Kalma, director of web strategy for Zappos, said the company plans to rollout the interactive videos on a wider scale next year and include video content for almost all of the site's products. Zappos was recently acquired by online retail giant Amazon in a deal worth around $1 billion (£604 million). ![]() |
