| YouTube signs content sharing deal with Five |

Video streaming website YouTube has signed a major content sharing deal with UK broadcaster Five. Under the partnership, YouTube will host full-length on-demand Five programmes on its website, with popular programmes such as Home and Away, Neighbours, The Hotel Inspector and The Gadget Show made available to viewers in YouTube's UK Shows section. All programmes will be only be available to viewers in the UK and will be supported by display and video advertising sold by Five's sales team. Nikesh Arora, president of global sales operations and business development for Google, YouTube's owner, said: "This landmark partnership with Five places [YouTube] at the forefront of the new opportunities around full-length content online and their shows will see increased reach and revenues." Dawn Airey, chief executive of Five, added that the partnership shows how broadcasters and online companies can work together to take advantage of new markets. In September Demand Five had more than three million views of its long-form content. ![]() |
