Online streaming video advertising is set to become increasingly popular in 2010, according to eMarketer. David Hallerman, senior analyst at the digital research company, said the rising demand for video advertising networks and on-demand video is likely to increase the popularity of online video marketing. He explained that video ad growth will also be bolstered by a rise in popularity of professional streaming video content and television broadcasters increasingly making full-length content available online. Mr Hallerman noted however, that firms will have to devise new pricing models to monetise content. "In order to maintain the costs of deep-catalogue video, the sites and their studio and TV network partners will need to introduce hybrid plans that combine subscription fees with advertising," he said. UK broadcaster Five recently signed an ad content sharing deal with YouTube in a move that is being hailed as an example of how "broadcasters and online companies can work together to take advantage of new markets". ![]() |
