A third of people plan to watch more streaming videos online over the Christmas period, a new survey has found. A poll conducted by Broadbandchoices.co.uk found that 32 per cent of broadband users questioned will watch more online TV over the holiday period via services such as BBC iPlayer. The company said that as web users increase the amount of content they view, they run the risk of attracting fines or compromising the speed of their connections. Michael Phillips, product director at Broadbandchoices.co.uk, said: "Anyone planning to catch up on their favourite TV shows using their broadband connection this Christmas should check the terms of their download limit and fair usage policy to ensure they are not in danger of having their connection speed throttled." He added that the use of online TV services is clearly going to increase in the future but users should always be conscious of their fair use policies. Peter Bazalgette, non-executive director at digital video syndication company myvideorights.com, recently said that fast broadband speeds make streaming videos more efficient. ![]() |
