BT has improved its broadband offering to web users who stream online content or download web-based material.
The company said users in areas previously unable to benefit from high-speed services can now subscribe to next-generation broadband featuring BT Infinity. The package offers improved connectivity for better streaming, faster download speeds of up to 40Mpbs and upload speeds of 19Mbps. Edd Dawson, managing director of broadband comparison website broadband.co.uk, said faster internet connections are the most important requirement for the majority of web users and will continue to be a top priority as more consumers use the web. "Infinity's main advantage is its speed, both in terms of download and upload speed," he said. Mr Dawson added that Infinity will be of major benefit to those who work in bandwidth-heavy sectors such as graphic design and video production. A recent report by Akamai found that the UK's connection speeds place it 26th in the global league table of download speeds. ![]() |
