A growing number of UK consumers are engaging with streaming content on their mobile phones, new figures show.
According to statistics from GSMA Mobile Media Metrics, around 16 million people surfed the web on their mobile phones in December 2009. These mobile surfers viewed almost seven billion pages of online content combined and spent 4.8 billion minutes online. The figures also show that the top ten sites viewed on mobile handsets accounted for 70 per cent of the total number of pages viewed and the overall amount of time spent online. Users of smart phones accounted for 47 per cent of total page views and 51 per cent of the total time spent online in December 2009. Bob Wootton, of ISBA - The Voice of British Advertisers, said: "You could say that the last ten or so years have been the time of the internet. "I think it is very possible to imagine the next ten years being the time of the mobile internet." ![]() |
