The majority of internet users in Europe consume streaming media content every day, new research reveals.
According to a survey from the Internet Advertising Bureau Europe, over three-quarters (77 per cent) of European internet users log on to online content six or seven days a week. The study, which questioned over 32,000 people in 16 European markets including the UK, found that 76 per cent of those who go online every day stay on the internet for more than one hour. Eastern Europeans were found to be the heaviest users of streaming video content, with one in three (33 per cent) spending three hours or more online every day, while 59 per cent said they viewed or updated their social profile within the last month. Catherine Borrel, head of research at IAB Europe, said: "The results give us a huge range of material to get under the skin of the consumer in each of the 16 markets, as well as from a pan-European view."
