Slow streaming media web connections are a major bugbear of web surfers, a new survey reveals.
According to poll from Hostway and Zeus Technology, 70 per cent of consumers said they are frustrated by the stop-start nature of streaming videos on websites and the length of time it takes to load images on web pages. The frustration at bad website performance is so great that more than eight in ten consumers said they would be dissuaded from buying goods on a website than did not function smoothly enough. One in four respondents said they are frustrated with advertising on retailers' websites, while 16 per cent are unhappy with the navigation on many websites. Around 13 per cent of those questioned said bad web links are a significant gripe when navigating websites. Neil Barton, director of hosting at Hostway, said more than two-thirds of respondents are wasting up to two and a half days a year reloading or waiting for web pages to load properly. ![]() |
