New figures show that social networking site Facebook was the biggest streaming video site in the UK last year.
According to data from comScore, 43 million online videos were watched on Facebook in February 2010 a 205 percentage point increase on the same month the year before, when only 14 million videos were watched. Google properties, which include YouTube, remained the most popular destination for online video views, with 2.5 billion clips watched in February this year. The BBC websites came in second place, with 140 million videos watched across its web properties in February, followed by Megavideo, which recorded 53 million video views. Overall, comScores figures show that online video views in the UK have grown by 37 per cent over the last 12 months, with 5.5 billion videos watched via websites in February 2010. A recent poll conducted by video advertising network BrightRoll found that 94 per cent of agency executives plan to spend more money on online video in the early part of this year. ![]() |
