Streaming video content is rapidly growing in popularity in Hong Kong, as video sharing sites become more widespread, a new report shows.
According to figures from comScore's Video Metrix service, almost nine out of ten (88.5 per cent) internet users in Hong Kong watched streaming video online in March. The data also revealed web users who visited video sites during the month watched an average of more than ten hours of video per person. The majority of streaming video viewing took place on Google, Tudou and Youku sites, comScore's data showed. Google captured 52.4 per cent of all videos viewed online, with YouTube accounting for more than 99 per cent of videos watched at the property. Victor Cheng, comScore director for Hong Kong, said: "Of the six Asia-Pacific markets where comScore currently measures online video, Hong Kong posted the highest penetration of viewing, demonstrating the importance of this platform as a vehicle to reach and engage consumers." ![]() |
