Sky has announced plans to roll out a new streaming video on demand service for its existing customers.
The Sky Anytime Plus service will enable Sky HD subscribers who sign up to the company's broadband service to watch around 500 movies and hundreds of hours of programming. Customers will also be able to download a standard definition film in around one minute via an Ethenet broadband connection. Kathryn Downward, head of TV services at Sky, told Pocket-lint: "There will be over 1,000 hours of entertainment. All movie houses are expected to be on board and we are talking to the UK terrestrial channels. "At launch, the service will only be available to Sky Broadband customers." Customers will also be able to view video trailers, queue downloads and search their system. Sky also confirmed that its set-top box would allow movie downloads to take place while it is on standby mode. ![]() |
