Almost half a million homes and business in Scotland are set to benefit from faster streaming services after BT announced plans to expand broadband services in the region.
The telecommunications firm said a further 483,000 homes and businesses in Scotland will have access to high-speed broadband services by spring next year. As part of BT's 21st Century Network campaign, lines serving up to 56 per cent of premises in Scotland - over 1.2 million homes and businesses - will have been upgraded in less than a year. By spring next year, some 18 million homes and businesses across the UK as a whole will have been upgraded. The roll-out will make superfast broadband speeds of up to 20 megabits per second (Mbps) available to domestic and business customers. This is more than double the maximum speeds previously accessible for the majority of UK homes and businesses. BT Scotland director Brendan Dick said: "This latest major investment in next generation broadband represents a huge BT vote of confidence in the future of Scotland. It will help ensure that businesses and households are in a strong position to thrive." ![]() |
