as said its new Bolt streaming media support will improve the web-browsing experience for mobile phone users. The Bolt 2.3 package supports the use of HTML5 on handsets along with boosting video streaming capabilities, offering improved bookmark storage in the cloud and enhancing inline text editing. In addition, a wider range of Flash websites will now be supported by the platform. The developer hopes that the release of the new software will build on its success of the past 18 months, which has seen Bolt installed 11.6 million times and attract 45,000 downloads per day. Chief executive of Bitstream Anna Magliocco-Chagnon said that the technology will improve the overall mobile web browsing experience for its customers. "Bolt's advanced capabilities and customer-centric feature set give handset manufacturers who deploy Bolt an edge when differentiating themselves from competitors," she remarked. Earlier this month, ZDnet reported on the launch of Verizon's new movie streaming app for smartphones, which will allow users to watch TV programmes on the move. ![]() |
