| LoveFilm announces streaming media deal with PS3 |

Film rental company LoveFilm has announced it is to enter into an agreement with Sony to provide streaming video of its titles to Playstation 3 (PS3) owners.
The companies are now working together to provide PS3 owners with thousands of films at the push of a button. The streaming video content will be broken down into categories for the users - including Pick of the Week, Most Watched and Highest Rated. "This is game-changing for LoveFilm and transformational for the UK home entertainment market as a whole," said Simon Culver, chief executive of LoveFilm. He added that the large base of PS3 users that are currently in the market will be able to benefit from instantly downloadable titles, as well as having access to DVD, Blu-ray and games rental by post. Elsewhere, Microsoft recently announced an update to its Zune streaming media system. Zune 4.7 will be available for Windows 7 smartphone users and allows individuals to stream live content to their mobile phones. ![]() |
