A new licensing deal has been struck by Roku that will allow it to market its new set-top streaming media box.
The firm has signed a deal with Netgear and is now marketing its Streaming Media Player in retail outlets across the UK. "Roku has built an open platform that has been enthusiastically adopted by content providers, many choosing Roku as the first product to launch their service into the living room," commented company founder and chief executive officer Anthony Wood. He added that the company is looking to broaden its reach with this agreement and hopes to tap into a whole new market in the months ahead. Elsewhere, Comcast recently launched its new Xfinity TV brand of steaming video for US consumers. The cable television provider has signed agreements with Showtime and Viacom to gain access to more than 150,000 film, television and audio titles that will be free to the company's digital television subscribers. ![]() |
