Users of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) are about to receive good news that their options for streaming media services have grown.
Sony has announced a deal with VUDU - the Walmart-owned streaming media provider - that will see PS3 owners able to download video and audio content direct to the console. Individuals who have an account with the PlayStation Network will be able to download content from the PlayStation store. The VUDU app is available for free, but is needed to make the content run successfully. The firm claims the new deal will allow PS3 users to receive cinema-quality films direct to their homes. Elsewhere, the new SlingPlayer app from Sling Media is set to offer streaming media connectivity to iPad users following its launch. The company made the announcement that owners of its Slingbox - a set-top device that allows people to download streaming media content - will be able to synchronise the device with their iPad when the app is launched. ![]() |
