Lovefilm has announced the extension of streaming video services through an agreement with Sony.
The company is poised to provide its services via the Sony Bravia SMP-N100 network media player, as the product allows access to internet apps including YouTube, Blip.tv and Daily Motion. Lovefilm's chief marketing officer Simon Morris said: "Our aim is to be on as many internet-connected devices as possible giving our members the opportunity to access our offering exactly when and how they want it." The deal marks a continuation of the company's busy last 12 months, with Lovefilm signing deals for its use on Sony Bravia TVs, Blu-Ray players and home cinema systems in 2010. Meanwhile, streaming media provider Netflix recently announced the signing of a number of deals with leading Blu-Ray disc player manufacturers - including Dynex, Haier, Memorex, Panasonic, Samsung, Sharp, Sony and Toshiba - to integrate a Netflix button on to controllers for these devices in the future.
